Dynamic Duos #68 - Hello!

Hello!  Are you ready for the new color challenge at Dynamic Duos #68?   We're starting out with one of my favorite colors...Perfect Plum.  And you get to choose the other half of the duo.  Here's the graphic for this week's challenge.
I had no idea what color I was going to pair with Perfect Plum.  But, my friend Kris pulled out her SU Color Coach and I saw a combo that I would never have thought of.  Perfect Plum and More Mustard.  What?

As it turns out...I love it!
This card was so much fun to create.  Well, that is, once I finally decided on a theme/layout.  I started out in a completely different direction, but I could NOT get it to work.  Then I remembered an ink splatter technique I'd seen recently.  It worked!
HERE is a link to the video tutorial...you just might want to try it. :)
After adhering the strip of kraft cardstock, I pulled out my SU watercolor crayons (discontinued now), and wet a small paintbrush with water.  I loaded it up with color - plenty of water & crayon - then started tapping the brush as I held it over my card.  I used 2 crayons...Perfect Plum & More Mustard, using 2 different size brushes in order to vary the size of the droplets.
I added the chevrons and the "hello" die cut after I splattered.  Those chevron pieces?  They're from the new SU chevron border punch.  I just bought this punch and couldn't wait to use it.  Love it. :)

Hey, now it's time for you to click over to Dynamic Duos and see what the rest of the Dynamos have  created.  Just follow THIS link.  Ok?
Thanks so much for taking a look!

Smile! - CAS(E) this Sketch!

Hey there!  I'm sharing a card I created using the newest sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch! CTS #42.
This week's sketch is by N@Ali, and it's SO versatile and fun.
My card ~

I used some white linen textured card stock, and began by misting spritzing it with some Mister Huey Gold color mist.  The patterned paper leaves were die cut, then glued to 2 layers of solid color card stock leaves.  I wanted to give them some dimension without using foam tape or dots.  If you click on the closeup photo you may be able to see the layers.
The gold stripes on the tiny "polaroid" frame are actually washi tape, adhered to white card stock. I attached a piece of vellum (stamped with my sentiment) behind the die cut.  A few enamel dots finished off my card.  What a fun card to put together!

Thanks so much for stopping in!

supply list ~
card stock: white linen texture (Ellen Hutson), coastal cabana, whisper white (SU), white vellum (The Paper Studio)
ink: onyx black versafine

Dynamic Duos #67 - Merci

We've got a sweet monochromatic color combo for you this week at Dynamic Duos #67 challenge.  Oh, I had fun with this challenge!
I told you, didn't I?  Sweet.

I used two neutrals with this combo...kraft and very vanilla.  I chose to do some collage stamping this week.

I pulled out my long-neglected French Script background stamp (yes, again) for this card and inked it up with Crumb Cake ink.  Then I layered on a variety of images in our challenge colors.  Um...yes.  Love these colors.  A lot.
Anyway, I popped up a couple of layers with foam tape to finish my card.  Done!
I hope you'll play along with us this week.  We love seeing how everyone uses our colors!

Now, pop on over and see what my team mates created for you. :o)  Here is the link.

Girly, you rock! A card for MUSE Challenge #30

Therese Calvird is the Monday Muse at Muse Challenge #30.  Her card is stunning!  See what I mean?
Well, I love sponging with inks.  Plus...I adore Therese's work.   So I HAD to play along with this challenge.  Had. To.

Here's my card.

I used Stampin' Up's whisper white for my inked panel.  It has such a nice, smooth surface for blending.  After applying the 3 distress inks, I spattered a few drops of water onto the panel.  Once it was dry, I stamped my butterflies.  I stamped my sentiment on a piece of white PTI cardstock, then adhered my inked panel.  It's all attached to the card base with dimensional adhesive.

Love this technique..and this was such a quick card to create.  I can't say that very often, can I???  Quick?  Not usually!

Anyway, thanks so much for taking a look!  I appreciate your visit.  :)

I'm working on my Christmas cards and this sketch was exactly what I needed.  Here's what I created with it.

I turned the sketch on it's side, then used 2 die cuts for the elements in the center of the sketch.  My patterned paper is from a new DSP paper stack from Stampin' Up!

Thanks so much for taking a look today!

Dynamic Duos #66 - Pool Party and Basic Black

Oh, such elegant colors.  We're playing with Pool Party and Basic Black for Dynamic Duos #66 and there's a Dessert option of embossing!
I chose to use heat embossing for this sympathy card.  I pulled out a background stamp called French Script from Stampin' Up!  This stamp hasn't seen ink in a long time.  When I reorganized my stamps a while back, I "found" this stamp and remembered how much I love it.  You can bet I'll be using it again, soon!

I embossed the script background, as well as the sentiment and flower.  The flower was stamped and embossed twice so that I could fussy cut a couple of petals to layer over the top.  The stamens of the bloom are covered in black enamel accents.  This color duo is so elegant that I decided to not add a neutral to the mix.  Yes.  Love this color duo a lot!
I hope you'll play along with us at Dynamic Duos this week.  We love to see what you do with our colors!

Hello! It's a Lawnscaping Challenge

Hi, I'm back with my second post for today.  This time, to play along with Lawnscaping Challenge No. 63.
This was such a fun challenge, but it took me so long to decide on a theme.  Anyway...take a look at the challenge.

I finally decided to mask a rectangle, then sponge a few clouds in the background.  Then I drew in a line (hmmm, either a telephone line or power line) for my little flock of birds.  I colored them in with my Prismacolor pencils, then stamped my sentiment.  I used a linen textured cardstock, which shows through my colors.  I think it adds so much interest though.  Fun stuff!
I'm so glad you stopped by.  I hope you'll leave a comment!

Supply list ~
Cardstock: linen textured white (Ellen Hutson)
Ink: bashful blue (SU), tuxedo black (Momento)

Together Forever - And a brand new challenge!

Hey!  There's a brand new sketch challenge in blogland.  The creator is our super talented "boss" over at Dynamic Duos, Lesley Croghan.  I'm so excited for her!  I love sketch challenges, so I've been waiting for Seize The Sketch - STS #1 to post this first challenge.  Take a look.
My card ~

I used some negative and positive die cuts from PTI's heart border die for the diagonal pieces of the sketch.  Then layered the butterfly die cuts in the same colors, after heat embossing my sentiment.  I worked all of my die cuts and embellishments around the word "Memories" in the bottom corner of this piece of patterned paper.  It fits so well with the wedding anniversary theme of my card.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Ink: versamark

Dynamic Duos #65 - Watercolor Sympathy Card

This week's colors at Dynamic Duos #65 are very soft and pretty.  I knew they would be perfect for a watercolor technique that I used a few weeks ago.  This technique is so easy and fun, that I wanted to use it again.

First things first, though.  Take a look at our challenge colors.

I had never thought to put these colors together.  But aren't they perfect?

I chose to make a sympathy card.  I thought the softness of the colors and the watercolor technique were a soothing combination for this type of card.

To create this card I used white watercolor paper.  It will absorb and disperse the water and ink  That will result in the blurred and uneven images you see on my card.  I sprayed the water color paper first, then sprayed the stamp after inking it.  After all the leaves and flowers were stamped, I gave the panel a spritz of pearl glimmer mist.
The sentiment was stamped after the panel had dried completely.

Ok.  Now it's time to click over to Dynamic Duos blog and see what the my team mates have created for your inspiration!
Thanks for stopping by!

I'm recycling a piece of corrugated packing material for the star on my card.  I've also used 2 vintage trims.

Tuesday Trigger - It's Completely Collagical

Sharing a card I made for the current Tuesday Trigger: It's Completely Collagical.  Don't you love that title?
It's been way too long since I've played along and Cath has an inspiration photo that I *love*.  Take a look.
I immediately saw postage stamps, so that's the where I got the inspiration to create this card.

I used a mix of postage and Christmas themed stamp sets.  It was so much fun, and I love the results!  And...mailing this one layer card will be so easy.  I'll list my supplies below.

A Clean & Simple card set

If reading from email, click HERE to go to my blog.
Hi, I'm sharing another card set that I made for a family member, to be given as a gift.  I decided to go very clean and simple with this set of cards.  There are a few layers and some stitching, but these will be easy to mail...no extra postage required.
I saw a Christmas card in the new Stampin' Up Holiday catalog that gave me the idea for this layout. It's a Christmas card on the left side of page 38.
I used DSP from the Festival of Prints Stack that I bought last year.  I love these prints and they're not JUST for the holidays...as you can see here.  I love that the prints are small; scaled perfectly for cards.  I was so happy to see that there are 2 Christmas DSP stacks in the current Holiday catty.  Ummm...I ordered those on August 1st.  Yup.  The day that the catty started!

Enough talking, right?  Here's my latest card set.

I stitched the focal panel onto a piece of DSP after I stamped the image and sentiment. Easy peasy.  And I'm so pleased with the results!
Thanks so much for stopping by today.  :)

DSP: festival of prints (SU)

Dynamic Duos #64 - An Anniversary Card

Hi!  It's time for a new color challenge.  It's Dynamic Duos #64.  We're using one of Stampin' Up!'s brand new colors...Strawberry Slush as one half of the duo this week.  I had to break open my new pack, since I've not used this color before.  These colors say "summer time" don't they?   Hmmm.  Maybe strawberry lemonade?

Actually, I needed to create an anniversary card for an Aunt & Uncle who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month.  What a happy occasion!

Once I finally decided on a layout, and where I would use each color (yeah, it took a long time), then I had fun with this card.  I was stamping with a couple of friends the day I made this card and one of them was using an edge punch and paper crimper to make cardstock "ruffles".  It was so pretty!  So I just had to use her technique on this card.  I'm really pleased with the texture it adds.  Thank you Cheryl!
See that tiny heart with the date of the 25th?  I coated it with a bit of glossy accents for bit of shine.  And the pom pom trim?  It's from SU.  I've been waiting for the right card to use this sweet trim.  Love it!

Hey, I've talked long enough.  Click on over to the Dynamic Duos challenge and take a look at the great projects that my team mates have created for your inspiration.  You can also find links to their blogs in my sidebar.
Thank for taking a look today!
