Hi! I found a bit of time during this holiday weekend to make a card. Just one!
I'm playing along in the Paper Smooches Designer Draft Challenge.
Here's the May sketch.
When I first looked at this sketch I thought of the sun. That worked perfectly for the fun birthday card I wanted to make for one of my stamping friends. I hope she likes it!
My friend RH is so much fun to spend time with and I think she is "one cool chick"!
I used some pretty blue glitter paper for the sky, to make that big yellow sun really pop. The happy, little bird was paper pieced...the body, from solid color card stock and the wings from a floral patterned paper. I colored the tiny legs, then gave the legs and wings a swipe of clear Wink of Stella. The final touch was adding those 2 wiggly eyes. I couldn't resist. :)
Thanks for taking a look!

More than coffee!
Hi! Hey, I finally found a little chunk of time to make a card this afternoon. That makes me smile. :)
As always, life is busy...but very good. Busy with family and activities that I enjoy. I'm blessed!
Well, onto my card right? I saw this sketch at Retro Sketches and I knew I wanted to play along.
See those stacked coffee cups...or tea cups? That sketch was perfect for a die set that I've been wanting to use!
Retro Sketches #165
I followed the sketch very closely this time.
After all these years...no I'm not telling you my age...I finally became a coffee drinker last year. Mmmm. It's so good! So, now I've bought a few coffee themed stamps sets & dies and I'm having fun using them. :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Sending Smiles
Well, it's been a while since I've posted a card. I finally found some time to make a card this afternoon...and it sure felt good. :)
I'm playing along with 2 challenges today.
Fusion - French Twist
Virginia's View #14 - Layers and Dimension
When I took a good look at the Fusion inspiration photo, many ideas came to mind. But what I was really drawn to were the fabrics. Lots of texture. Oh, and those beautiful colors! Love that combination of gray, yellow and white. In fact, I had almost finished this card when I realized that I am wearing those colors today. :)
Then there is Virginia's challenge using layers and dimension. I knew right away what technique I wanted to use on this card. Stitched pieces of patterned paper, layered over several colors of card stock.
Here's what I came up with.
Ahhh. Paper crafting is good for the soul. I'm sure of it!
I used 6 patterned papers, all from one 6 x 6 pad. It was a bit "challenging" to get my patterns aligned in the right direction, with all those random angles. All worth the effort, though.
I even did a bit of stitching on the sentiment strip, just to tie it all together.
That's it for now. I think it's time to spend some time outdoors before the next round of rainy weather moves in.
Thanks for looking!

card stock: so saffron, basic gray, whisper white (SU)
